A couple of years ago I saw a Frida Khalo still life with a bird on a watermelon. I loved the use of colour and was inspired to photograph some beautiful Australian bird life for this fruit still life. Including little creepy crawlies is always one of my favourite parts of the process. I've chosen luxurious, erotic fruits for the piece. The insects are ready to devour the decadent fruit, and the birds devour the insects.
