Recently I became enamoured with Dutch still life, Vanitas and Memento Mori sentiments. This is the second dramatic, larger than life piece I’ve created: this time with pink, Spring tones. As well as rich florals, this artwork is thick with Vanitas-style meaning. Birds in still life represent the resurrection of the soul after death. Butterflies and dragonflies are symbols of transformation, and snails remind us to slow down.
