‘The Kraken’s Wife’

She stared at the ocean in front of her. Having lived amongst the villagers for so long she had forgotten who she was and where she had come from. Finally she heard the call and came to the shore where her true nature met her, in all it’s fierce beauty and wildness. She peeled back the pieces of herself that no longer fit as she remembered that she too was wild.

Somewhat inspired by recent covid events - a general feeling of overwhelm - at first I had planned for her to be somewhat of a victim, destined to be a sacrifice for the Kraken. She had other ideas though, and quickly grew her own bad-ass tentacles as she faced the storm head on, ready to embrace all the lovely, weird bits of herself she kept hidden. May you find and delight in your own wildness.
